Arizona & Utah, with an extra option for Colorado

16 days, including a day to travel at each end
A circular, self-guided tour, starting and finishing at Las Vegas, Nevada

Seven National and Tribal Parks make this the most popular itinerary from the full range.  It includes Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Parks, and also Monument Valley.  The range of different landscapes is astounding, and further enhanced with many State Parks.

USA flag  Pioneers & Mountains, USA
Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota & Utah

16 days, including a day to travel at each end
A circular, self-guided tour, starting and finishing at Denver, Colorado

The area of this itinerary was crossed by many pioneer trails, including the Oregon Trail, leaving forts and wagon ruts.  Gold mines and homesteads are part of the scenery left behind by the pioneers.  Four National Parks are also visited, including Rocky Mountain and Badlands - with different kinds of beauty.

USA flag  New England, USA
Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island & Vermont

16 days, including a day to travel at each end
A circular, self-guided tour, starting and finishing at Boston, Massachusetts

400 years of history, including the arrival of the Pilgrim Fathers and the Revolutionary War for Independence are the backdrop for this really interesting itinerary.  New England in the Fall is always popular, but there are so many attractive aspects of the area, not least being Boston.

USA flag  California, USA
with extra options for Oregon & Nevada

16 days, including a day to travel at each end
A circular, self-guided tour, starting and finishing at San Francisco, California

Six National Parks, including Yosemite and Death Valley make this a wonderfully varied itinerary, away from the razzamatazz of many Californian destinations.  Giant Sequoia Trees, Joshua Trees and volcanic remains are all added in with the interesting history of the area.

USA flag  Washington State, USA

16 days, including a day to travel at each end
A circular, self-guided tour, starting and finishing at Seattle, Washington

Three National Parks and Mount St Helens set the scene for this wonderful itinerary.  Pioneer history, 'wild west' and 'Bavarian' towns are mixed with awe-inspiring beaches, strewn with gigantic logs.  There are contrasts of inland heat with the temperate rain forest on the Pacific.

USA flag  Geysers & Glaciers, USA
Utah, Wyoming, Montana & Idaho

16 days, including a day to travel at each end
A circular, self-guided tour, starting and finishing at Salt Lake City, Utah

Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Glacier National Parks are the core of this itinerary.  However, there are the many other interests of Salt Lake City, the Lewis and Clark Trail, mansions of the wealthy and historic mining areas.  The route is designed to travel along many national 'Scenic Byways'.

USA flag  Arizona & New Mexico, USA
Arizona & New Mexico

18 days or fewer including a day to travel at each end
A circular, self-guided tour, starting and finishing at Phoenix, Arizona

Four National Parks and 20 other national sites are explored in this area of Hispanic influence.  The remains of ancient Indian cultures of 1,000 years ago are visited, together with Saguaro cacti, the OK Corral at Tombstone, ghost towns, forts and many geographical phenomena.

UK flag  Exmoor National Park, UK
Devon, England

9 days, including a day to travel at each end
A self-guided tour, starting and finishing at Minehead, Somerset

Famous for being the supposed home of Lorna Doone, Exmoor is a wonderful contrast between wooded valleys, wild, inland moors and high cliffs dropping to the sea.  Ancient packhorse bridges, pretty villages and the notorious Lynmouth flood disaster make this a favourite with walkers.

UK flag  Dartmoor National Park, UK
Devon, England

12 days, including a day to travel at each end
A circular, self-guided tour, starting and finishing at Exeter, Devon

A superb mix of picturesque villages and wild moorland, make Dartmoor very popular with walkers.  There is evidence of former civilisations (up to 3,000 years ago) with stone enclosures and rows of upright stones, and the story of tin-mining over 1,000 years.  Two city tours and five National Trust properties are also included.

UK flag  Peak District National Park, UK
Mostly Derbyshire & Staffordshire, England

16 days, including a day to travel at each end
A self-guided tour, starting and finishing at Ashbourne, Derbyshire
Alternatively, sections may be chosen for short breaks in the area

This is in the centre of England, within the Pennine Hills, having the famous towns of Buxton, Bakewell and Ashbourne and many quaint villages.  The area is steeped in history with historic houses, and is equally notable for its walking opportunities in the dales, such as Dove Dale, Monsal Dale and Lathkill Dale.

UK flag  Snowdonia National Park, UK
Gwynedd, Wales

16 days, including a day to travel at each end
A self-guided tour, starting and finishing at Betws-y-Coed, Gwynedd
Alternatively, sections may be chosen for short breaks in the area

The combination of beautiful valleys, coastline, lakes, waterfalls, forts, castles and rugged mountains, including Snowdon, make a very varied itinerary.  Three castles were built by the English King Edward I in the 1200s to suppress the Welsh.  The entire area is also famous with walkers for its beauty.
